Biography:
Theon Greyjoy is a major character in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series and the HBO adaptation, "Game of Thrones." He is the youngest living son of Lord Balon Greyjoy, the head of House Greyjoy of the Iron Islands.
As a child, following Greyjoy's Rebellion, Theon was taken as a ward and hostage by Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell. He was raised alongside the Stark children, becoming a close friend and quasi-sibling, particularly to Robb Stark.
At the onset of the War of the Five Kings, Theon initially supports Robb, acting as an envoy to his father in an attempt to secure the Iron Fleet for the Northern cause. When Balon refuses and instead plans to invade the North, Theon betrays the Starks, seizing Winterfell in his own name.
His actions lead to his capture by Ramsay Snow, who subjects him to horrific torture and psychological manipulation, ultimately breaking his spirit and renaming him "Reek." He spends years as Ramsay's abused servant. Later, Theon begins a long road to redemption, eventually aiding Sansa Stark and fighting against the White Walkers at the Battle of Winterfell, where he dies protecting Bran Stark.
